Overview
Amy has a diverse litigation practice focused on defending insured individuals and insurance companies, as well as defending companies and individuals involved in commercial litigation matters. Her experience includes claims and lawsuits regarding personal injury, automobile accidents, premises liability, UIM, employment discrimination and contract disputes.
Amy has first-chaired District Court trials throughout the state of Colorado and has extensive mediation and deposition experience. She enjoys guiding her clients through the litigation process through open communication and a proactive approach.
Amy has worked primarily in civil litigation since 2002 when she began her career as an insurance defense attorney in Chicago, Illinois. Following her time in Chicago, she worked in the general litigation division at a private law firm in her hometown of Champaign, Illinois. Upon returning to Colorado, Amy worked as field counsel specializing in litigation for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company where she handled a large case load of auto accident, premise liability and UIM cases. She also has government experience, having worked for the City of Denver in both their Civil Litigation and Prosecution and Code Enforcement Divisions.
Amy has successfully litigated cases at all levels, including arbitration. She believes in the importance of early case evaluation, the power of a clear litigation plan from the inception of the case, and helping clients understand the entire process from beginning to end. Amy has achieved multiple defense verdicts, and has successfully resolved cases through a strong dispositive motions practice, as well as mediation.
Some achievements include:
- Defense verdict in a premises liability case involving a slip and fall on ice/snow
- Defense verdict in an arbitration defending an insurance company in a UIM action
- Multiple defense verdicts defending companies in breach of contract actions
- Summary judgment on behalf of a restaurant in a premises liability case
- Summary judgment on behalf of a homeowner in a premises liability case
- Obtained a verdict below statutory offer in a rear-end car accident case
